Bonjour Carcassonne. Bonjour France.
March 15, 2016
We are in France now! After a (mostly) lovely train ride from Barcelona through the mountains, we’ve made it to Carcassonne. Yes, like the board game ’cause we’re nerds. Carcassonne is a really beautiful town set around the ye olde cité of Carcassonne, which is the amazing castle with giant medieval walls. We stayed near the cité with a lovely French lady, who gave us great local recommendations and let us practice our pathetic French with her.

We found the Carcassonne box cover spot!

We really enjoyed Carcassonne. The castle was incredible and timeless. We froze our butts off climbing the walls, but it was totally worth it to soak up some history. It was so cold I forgot to take more pictures, but around the cité are adorable boutique shops (mostly touristy) and little restaurants and within the museum part of the castle they have cool old gargoyles from the Cathedral and old statues from around the castle. Our stay was so short, but I’m really glad we made the stop it was so fun.
