We had a Blastia in Bastia.
April 5, 2016

After Marseille we decided to take a little boat trip over to Bastia, Corsica on our way to Italy. Bastia is the most photogenic town in the world. It’s a super colourful gem set in a mountainous island on the Mediterranean. It’s peaceful, beautiful, friendly, the perfect little vacation spot.
Although we were visiting in the winter and it was quiet, it’s apparent that most of the town is braced for hordes of tourists who invade during the summer. The people are ready. With tonnes of restaurants and shopping and scenic views in every direction how could you not expect people to visit and enjoy. Despite the large tourism industry Bastia is still a small town at heart. It was the first place in France that I had a car stop for me to cross the street! Just to show the slower pace of life there.
More than once my breath was taken away, not because I’m out of shape and Bastia is hilly, but by the incredible views. My photos really can’t convey the absolute beauty of Bastia. But I’m going to try.

After two nights in Bastia we left on a ferry to Livorno. Once in Livorno we took a train to Florence. The city of Da Vinci, the Medici family, Michelangelo (artist not turtle), Donatello (artist not turtle), and Ezio.
