London’s Calling
August 30, 2016

Oh London, what do I even say about you. Another city stole my heart. London just has everything, it’s so big and busy and interesting. I’m not sure if I could live in a place like London, it’s a big city that feels like a big city. What I mean is that I constantly felt like I was in the way or not moving fast enough. Everyone has shit to do and places to be! My heart wants London the same way it wanted to date a rockstar in my youth. My brain knows that I couldn’t keep up with a rockstar… or London.
We were thrilled to have the privilege of dragging Abbey around London the first couple days. She’s just a joy to be around and we got to do some interesting things that Abbey wanted to do, things that we wouldn’t have done if she wasn’t there.
Our sweet lil’ airbnb was in the Peckham neighbourhood, which is very residential. It was relatively close to busses, but not close to the tube.
^^Look it’s Abbey and I in London! Just trying to fit in.^^
After dropping our bags off at the airbnb we took to the streets! or rather an Uber and then the streets! We wandered around this super hip neighbourhood in Bethnal Green where we found a Cereal Cafe. What ridiculous nonsense!
John had some Superman cereal but Abbey and I just feasted on shawarma an hour earlier so there was no room for weird cereal. I bought a pin though!
Further down Brick Lane we found this sweet lil’ pub that was super busy. There was one table free and it had the pub cat sitting at it! True fortune!
Somewhere along our exploration we found this perfection. Abbey’s name is literally on everything.
What’s this? Oh just the Tower of London no big.
And what’s this garbage? Just the ol’ Tower Bridge, whatever.

BEER. BEER. BEER.
Day 2 Begins:
Abbey borrowed the cutest umbrella from our apartment. Day 2 is just adorable photos of Abbey holding this umbrella.
As part of Abbeyday we got to go to this really cool restaurant “Cafe in the Crypt.” It’s exactly as it sounds. They have amazing soup, lots of old people/business peeps, and of course gravestones.
I came down with an annoying cold a few days before, so that hot cup o’ soup soothed my soul like no other.
Cool crypty-biz.
Next up, we made it over to the National Portrait Gallery.
I would hate to sit next to this guy on the bus.
The gallery has an amazing collection! I would highly recommend.
Next, over to Trafalgar Square.

Then of course, to the Palace! Buckingham Palace that is.
Where dat Queen at?

On a sober note, we ended our day in SOHO at a vigil for the people who were senselessly killed in Orlando on June 12th. It was incredibly moving to be a part of this mass of people. The strength, the beauty, and the love that can still exist when such horrible things happen, I have no words for it.
Thus ends the Brabbey adventures…
for now!
More McArnold London adventures to come!
