The Gang Tours: Germany, Austria, Switzerland

In a fun change of pace my brother, Alex and his girlfriend, Mallory joined us for some travels through Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy! It was an amazing and hectic 3 weeks that I will always cherish.

This post is about our first week in Munich, Germany; Salzburg, Austria; and Zurich, Switzerland. We did so much.

Munich, Germany

4 nights.

Munich Cathedral.

As a treat on our first night in Munich, we all got stuck in an elevator. Luckily some people noticed our weeping and called for help.

The Glockenspiel in the town centre. With an old timey life size cuckoo clock show.

Beers as big as my head 4 eva.

I had my 29th birthday in Munich, where I dragged everyone to art galleries and then out for boozing! I also insisted we go to this cute pink cafe for birthday breakfast. I’m always needy, but when it’s my birthday I’m the worst.

We did not go to Boobs! I repeat, we did not go to Boobs. It was just part of our colourful neighbourhood.

We checked out the Neue and Alte Pinakothek. Both have incredible collections.

Da club has not changed in 400 years.

On my birthday we went to this sweet lil’ cocktail bar (after getting kicked out of a beer hall) and the wonderful bartender gave us free champagne and dessert after hearing it was my birthday! Generally people in Munich are grouchy but this guys was alllll right.

Squad. Goals.

We went to a bunch of different beer halls. My fav was this creepy one in basement cavern.

Salzburg, Austria

A day trip from Munich.

Salzburg is this really quant town in Austria. It’s where Mozart was born and it was the setting for The Sound of Music.

Here’s a video of us touring the town!

Mozart balls!

We went to a medieval castle that overlooks the town of Salzburg.

We had supper in the most adorable Austrian restaurant. It was decorated with gnomes and was like a little cabin inside. I like Austria. I learned Viennese chicken is just chicken fingers, but you don’t sound like a child when you order Viennese chicken now do ya!?

Zurich, Switzerland

2 nights.

2 fast.

John and I took in a concert while in Zurich as one of my fav Canadian bands, Wintersleep was playing at a bar in town.

Mallory and I also went to a spa in Zurich with a Roman/Irish spa ritual which was the most pampered I’ve ever been! I mean the deer and bull sacrifices were a lot of work, but my skin has never looked better. The building was an old brewery. I wasn’t allowed to take photos inside, but you can see them on their website.
