Greek food and Greek hospitality is universal, so to be able to experience it at its source is such a treat. My most favourite parts of my Greek food tour is the Athens central market, shawarma, and seafood!
Greek olives are not my favourite of olives, but I sure love the displays at the market.
Athens Meat Market! It’s a whole different world stepping into the meat market. The sellers can be aggressive and the sights are grotesque. They make it much harder for people to forget that they are eating real creatures!
Market goods
more market. love dat market.
the best chicken shawarma of my life.
get in there for the close up of delicious shawarma
this is the place that makes the best shawarma and it’s next to the Central Market.
Mmmmm Junk.
Mr. Beans coffee from which we purchased much of our coffee beans from.
Greek grape leaf snack thing
More of that good good shawarma
We obtained fish from the crazy market one day and I really liked the packaging
and the fish turned out great.
Really enjoyed the wine in the plastic bottles
MOULES! mussels always remind me of France wherever I am. We had these ones on the Athens waterfront.
This delicious breakfast pastry comes from the same place that makes the best shawarma.
Back to the insane meat market. Here’s a truck full of random meat bits. You can also buy a goats head for a Euro.
We checked out this adorable board game cafe in downtown Athens. It was a fantastic and cool place except they allow smoking indoors 🙁
They did make me an excellent Freddo tho.
Another fav spot was this Indian restaurant that makes a tandoori chicken shawarma wrap. So good!
