Our most recent adventure was to Tiritiri Matangi Island. It’s an open bird sanctuary saved from being over farmed in the early 1900’s. The conservation project completely restored the island to represent what New Zealand would’ve been like before colonization. So a bunch of forest and no mammals. Fact: There were no mammals on the island until humans brought them over, starting with tiny rats and well, humans. Continue reading “Bird is the Word.”
We’ve been in Auckland, NZ (New Zeal) for about two weeks now and so far it’s been lovely. We escaped Halifax after the most stressful couple of weeks of my life – yes, more stressful than that time I was left alone and binge watched Hannibal. I know our super adventure sounds like all fun and games, but boy I’m telling you it was a lot of work to get organized, move our things into a tiny storage unit, and finish up work.
